Sports As A High School Extracurricular

There are entire books written about high school athletes and college admissions. The short story is that you have to be a scholar athlete and ensure that your athletic skills and achievements hold up to your academic prowess. It is important to pursue the highest level of participation (varsity) and gain the respect of your coach and peers so you can pursue captainship. It is best to start early on in high school and pursue the sport (or any activity) for all four years of high school. If you are planning on playing the sport in college, you should contact the coach of the team and discuss scholarships and recruitment. You could possibly contribute to the community by holding sporting events for younger children. It is a good idea to keep track of personal achievements that you can share with the committee, such as regional or state rankings.
