If you are interested in politics or government, there are many options for you to show your strength in this field. You can intern with a local politician either at their campaign office or their government office. It affords you the opportunity to see the inner workings of the legislative system. Participating in Model UN, or activities like it, is a great way to learn about international affairs and proper parliamentary procedure. Running for office in your school election shows both that are capable of leading and that you have earned the respect of your peers. It is best when you can cite a substantial achievement from your term. Participating in the school’s mock trial or debate team allows you to develop important analytic skills and help you stay current with the latest in political and judicial happenings. It is important to contact the director of the activities you plan on pursuing in college to gain more information and show interest in their program. Sometimes the director might send a letter to the admissions committee indicating that you will be an excellent asset to their program.
